Long Weekends Rock

Good morning :bananadance:

moresnowdec2208This is a photo I took on the 22nd of December from my bedroom window.  We had so much snow in Vancouver this past winter.

This weekend has been so nice.  We got Friday and will have Monday off work, so its like two weekends in one and I really need it.  Although, Friday was spent doing nine loads of laundry with only one washer and dryer in this building,  it was an all day event.

Yesterday, I was supposed to take my car in for its first oil change/check-up and it turned out that I don’t yet have enough kilometers on it for the oil to be changed yet.  Something about letting the workings of the car have some time.  Or, the first oil change being done at the right time.  I don’t know, didn’t understand too much of that, but seeing that I was at Granville Island I decided to leave my car with the service department for a wash while I wandered around.  First I ate six sugar-coated donut holes, then picked up some home-made fries and sat on the wharf and ate them.  It was a nice relaxing time and I really do need to get out more.  Money is kind of tight at the moment once I pay all the bills.  Good job the scenery here is entertainment in itself.

Today, I will pick my daughter up in a little while and cook her favorite meal for her for Easter dinner.

Tomorrow I am going down to the salon my daughter works at where she will cut and highlight my hair for me for the cost of the product only.

That’s about it for the past week.  Off to clean the toilet now.  Doesn’t get more exciting than that!

Life is so Good!

April 3rd, 2009

Good evening :woohoo:

img_0040Well here’s a blast from the recent past.  Christmas at mine with my 71/2 foot tree.  My daughter was so mad about this one.  I loved it!  There was no Christmas tree in 2007 and so it was my intention to go nuts this past one.  It was just so great to be home and to have dinner with my daughter, Brie.  We had so much snow at Christmas-time here in Vancouver this year.  It was truly a winter-wonderland.  As I said in the last post, you can see that I eventually did get curtains.

img_0030So, as promised, a little more of my bachelorette pad.  This is of course, where I lay my head after a long day at work.  As with the other photos in the last post, it has changed slightly, but this gives you the just.  Unmade and all.  That’s cause my teddy-bear was still sleeping.  At least that’s my story and I’m stickin to it.  It really is a fab apartment.  Lots of windows and light.

img_0031This is a photo of my kitchen/dining suite.  Its kinda funky and has a granite table-top which is quite cool.  The apartment is very large and this sits in front of the kitchen window.  Lots of windows in this place and a panoramic view of the rockies which I was never even aware of until I woke up the day  after moving in.  I know it sounds weird, but I so love this city that I live in.  I will be taking lots of photos of the ocean for you, which by the way, is just down at the bottom of the street on which I live.

I cried so much when I arrived back here and saw the mountains and the ocean again.  It really is my personal paradise and when I have to envision something in my mind to calm my nerves after a long day at work, I really do just have to look around me.  I am so blessed!

Home Sweet Home

March 29th, 2009

livingroomIt has been such a long time I know.  So much has happened since October.  I found an apartment a few blocks away from the apartment I was was living in before losing my mind and moving to Quebec.  The photo is one I took of my livingroom just after moving in.  No curtains and all.  I have since picked up curtains and will take another photo soon.  I am into white and lightness as you can see.  The apartment I’m renting is a 1940’s build, so its kind of funky and the building is very secure, which makes me so comfortable now that I am all on my own.

couchI purchased this La-Z-Boy couch which folds out into a queen-sized bed in case anyone shows up wanting to visit the most beautiful place in the world.  I did knit that blanket as some of you will remember, but my daughter has since claimed it for herself.  Of course the boxes have been since unpacked and put into storage.

coffeetableSo much has changed since I took these photos.  This is the coffee-table I purchased.  White again like the t.v. Stand.  It also doubles as my bookcase until I earn enough money to buy a bookshelf.  Oh right!  I am so blessed to have found a job.  Started working on the 27th of January and not a minute too soon.  Was seriously wondering how I was going to pay February’s rent.  I had to cancel a life insurance policy that my dad had taken out for me when I was born, but it got paid.  I basically picked up the big ticket items when I moved and the rest will fall into place in the years to come.

So, have I bored you to tears yet??  Like I said, I will take some updated photos in the near future and show you the rest of the place as the weeks go by.  Will be around to visit you all very soon.  I have missed you all so much!  Its meant the world to me that some of you have been checking up on me.  Its been a long road since September 23rd, but everything is falling into place.  Thank you so much Becky!

Good morning :raininagain:

Well, it has been a while, I know.  I am finally back home and happier than I can say.  I am staying with my daughter, until I can secure an apartment that I would live in.  We have seen some real uglies.  The photo over there?  Well that’s my brand new 2009 Chevy Aveo 5 LT and I have fallen in love with my very first car of my own.  The smilie above?  Yes, I am truly home in Vancouver, rain and all.  The very last thing I had to do to get here, was to board a flight for 3,000 miles.  Have I ever mentioned how terrified I am of flying?  Once I landed, however, the stress of the last year and a half just washed away.  I landed back here on the 23rd of September.  I picked up my car on the 26th and when I was driving it back to Brie’s I happened to look ahead of me and there were the mountains in all their glory and I just lost it.  The following day, Brie took me down to the ocean and yes you guessed it, I lost it yet again.  I have missed you all so much, but have been in such a bad place over the last year and a half.  I will be getting around to visiting each and every one of you very soon.

Cable-Yoke Jacket Completed!

May 2nd, 2008

Good afternoon :woohoo:

Cable-Yoke JacketI finished the Cable-Yoke Jacket on Tuesday and here it is…

Cable-Yoke JacketI went to get a pedicure on Wednesday and wore it and the ladies at the salon were in awe.  It took almost 11 months to complete this project, but it was well worth the effort.  I’m certain I will be wearing this at every opportunity for a very long time to come.  Can’t wait for Brie (my daughter) to photograph me wearing it for you.  Laying on the floor here really doesn’t do it justice.

Well, its May!  The time to move is getting very close now.  I feel so forgotten here.  Its as if I don’t even exist and that is the worst feeling I’ve ever experienced.  I’m thinking of asking Jesse (my son) to fly out here when the time comes to help me with the final arrangements.  I’ve been alone for so long that I think I will scream if I have to board the plane alone.  He offered a while back and I think I may take him up on it if he can get away from work for a few days.

Good afternoon :knitting:

Cable-Yoke JacketI have the left side and sleeve seams sewn and I am working away on the right sleeve seam right now.  I have tried it on and it is gorgeous.  I promise to get Brie (my daughter) to take a photo of me wearing it when I get back home.  I still have to sew the pocket tops and linings in place as well as sew on these fabulous buttons I have for it.  This is definitely not a project for the faint-of-heart.  It took me forever to set the sleeves in.  I had never done the shallow set in method before and all I can really tell you about that is that when you actually lay the sleeves out, the cast off edge is much shorter than where you sew them in to match up the shaping on the front and back.  When you consider the fact that I began this project at the beginning of last June and worked on it almost every day for at least an hour, sometimes two, you get an idea of the scope of the work involved.  If you’d like to see close-ups of some of the detailing and you are a member of Ravelry just click that link.  I think you can also click on any of the photos under Flickr in my sidebar as well.

I found the lawyer’s email address today and emailed them just to confirm that we are actually awaiting the final paper and they did return my email to confirm that they did file it with Revenue Canada on March 18th, so if all goes well (and it will right?) I could receive my Release for my signature, which when mailed back, sends the cheque as early as next month or as late as mid-June.  I feel as if I have wasted the last year of my life having to stay here waiting and let me tell you, when I do get home I plan on living twice each day to make up for it.  I realize its kind of late in life for me, but I have learned some very valuable lessons here.
